According to a "local" radio station in San Jose, he has accepted the job and there will be a presser today or tomorrow. This is said to be fostered along by Bill Parcells. Hope this isn't true, but when there's smoke, there's usually fire.

Take it for what its worth....

These types of rumors don't just start out of the blue. This is extremely worrisome.

I don't get it though....aside from obvious bias of me wanting him to stay here, Kentucky is right smack in the middle of the Alabama/LSU SEC and I have a really hard time imagining Coach Mac having much success there, the same way he does here. Here, he has his coaching staff that pretty much does what he wants, the pool for recruiting is easier in a sense that he doesn't have to travel far to find good/great players, and he would essentially have to rebuild Kentucky's team (112th in total offense and 57th in total defense). That's not going to happen in one season and we all know how fanatic the South is with their football.

On the flip side, I can guarantee he would have more student/alumni support, definitely a bigger pay raise, and if/when he does become successful, he'll be smack in the middle of the BCS picture, playoff and all.

I'm very concerned myself, but not shocked. MAC is a southerner (Georgia Tech alum), so I figured he'd be interested in one or more of the various Head Coaching jobs in that region like Arkansas, North Carolina State, Auburn or Kentucky. I hope he doesn't go, but I have a bad feeling he will. It's a free market society where contracts are rarely honored anymore, but it's gonna' leave a big hurt here. :(

I would rather see him go to Kentucky than Cal.

Looks like as of now coach Mac says this is just a rumor. Says nobody has contacted him. He is probably not telling the full truth, I am sure he has been contacted. It does make sense though I don't think any respectable program would announce the hire of a new coach before he is done with his current season. here is the merc article.

Mac's name is mentioned nowhere in this article about the Cal job.

I wont count this as a dodged bullet until Cal has hired somebody else.
